Reading Response #2

For my reading response, I choose an article by Hans Ludwig. The article is titled “Block Party: A Celebration in the Long Overdue Sierra Snow,” article explains how the long awaited end of the drought was brought to the California Sierra Nevada mountains. The heavy snowfall is recalled by a Mammoth California citizen who recalls the excitement of those 3 months in 2018. Being an avid snowboarder myself I remember the winter quite well. My father and I regularly visit Bear Valley Ski Resort and that March in 2018 was the best snow I had ever experienced. Maybe it was because the great snow was following a 3 year drought but the snow seemed to bring everyone together for the season. When the snow falls in that great of quantity it shows that mother nature has no regard humans and still reigns supreme above everyone. The snow along with bringing happy faces brought fresh lines in the snow. Nothing can quite compare to surfing across a fresh blanket of snow, looking back and seeing one single line follow behind you in the fresh snow. Although the heavy amounts of snow bring lots of work for the people who live in it, it is essential for the Sierra Nevada snowpack. Overall for the benefit of myself and the benefit of all the world the Sierra Nevada needs to and should keep experiencing heavy snowfall like it saw in the early months of 2018. The Patagonia website provides a vast selection of articles which includes all sorts of information on different outdoor subjects.
